Tang Paradise is located in the southeast section of Xian Ciy. It is within walking distance from the Xian Garden Hotel. The complex was built close to the original site of an ancient garden and consists of themed garden areas, culture, tea, market, entertainment and food. Tang style buildings have been replicated here.
Tang Paradise is part of an immense tourist development undertaking which also inludes the free and equally amazing musical fountain at the Great Wild Goose pagoda square. Each night the musical fountain starts at 8:30pm. Truly amazing.Do not miss the water fountain. Is it as good as the Terracotta Warriors? You decide. We could not believe it. We certainly went away thinking why we didn't have such a free event in Sydney each night. Fabulous. Ocean World and another new hotel are all part of the same new development area (Quijiang)
We stayed at the Xian Garden Hotel. This is a lovely hotel with a beautiful water garden and comfortable rooms and is well located. The breafast buffet is great and afterwards you can be instructed in Tai Chi if you want to in the lovely garden in the morning. The hotel also has its very own theatre restaurant. This is worth going to as the dancing is so professional. Best of all, if you stay here you can walk to the Great Wild Goose Pagoda square and Tang Paradise. Both entertainment areas are less than a kilometre away from the hotel. Fantastic. No taxis at night. All your entertainment needs are at your doorstep )other than the city centre which requires a cheap fare for a taxi).
Tang Paradise is not like a regular westen amusement park. In many ways this place reflects the culture of the people of China - the cultural necessity to spend time in an open space and reflect. The gardens are very beautiful. Relax and enjoy. Start your visit around 4pm if you wish to eat here and walk around the gardens.
Around 8pm, every night, a water screen movie is displayed for free in the central area of this huge complex. Th movie integrates fountain, fireworks, music, water mist, laser and tells the story of a boy named Alladin. The water screen movie is a real spectacle and is around 30 metres tall and 120 metres wide. It has an amazing 3 dimensional effect. Arrive at the central lake area for a good vantage spot earlier. Just follow the location signs.
The Tang Paradise complex also features two humped camel rides and a stage spectacular called A Dream of Returning to Great Tang. This show coincides with the water screen film so be careful ,you will have to choose which you prefer before you go.
Xian is a fabulous city. You should spend at least 4 nights here to cover:
1. Xian City - illuminated at night. Don't miss the Mosque market, near the city center and the cultural street market (Shuyuanmen "Ming and Qing Street" )which is connected to the forest of stone stele museum. There is a bar and restaurant area close by to the culture themed market (south Xian).
2. Tang paradise - water film
3. Wild Goose Pagoda Square - musical water fountain
4 One of the theatre restaurants for a Tang style music/dance/opera.
Day time attractions are fantastic here too, so allow plenty of time in Xian. The city wall is awesome too. You can ride a bike here, get a rickshaw or just walk. Banpo Museum, the Terracotta warriors, Huaquing pool (enjoy the foot spa - looks tacky but it works like magic), the Drum and Bell Towers. Xian is a real highlight.
