I would like to start by saying that this place is all name. I was so looking forward to visit this restaurant since a couple of people told me about it and that it was supposed to be great.
I book my hotel reservation at the Melia Hotel and it was great. I made a reservation to Mark's Restaurant to try it out.
Service: was great with very nice people working there. Specially the bartender. She was very nice and very very friendly.
Food: was so so and I was not impressed about it. Also, very few choices.
Wines: A little bit expensive for the little choices that they had.
In overall, I think you may want to try somewhere less expensive with better food. The only nice thing about this place is that is very quite and intime. Dimmed lights and very soft music. Perfect palce to sit at the bar and have a couple of drinks.
Excellent meals when Mark is present

When Mark is not around, the service is as good as ever but not the meals: excesive sauces, salty food, missing ingredients... One of the best restaurants in the island, but the word is spreading around that Mark is no longer available all the time.
Rated: excellent if Mark is present.
Best in Puerto Rico

After 8 days of trying some of the "Best" PR had to offer, Mark's was clearly the winner. I went to some of the best places according to reviews, etc, and this was the first time I told my wife that this meal was way above average.
Hotel is pretty dingy and restaurant is a bit dated. Low lighting and all locals, which was very cool. Talked to Mark on the phone and was a very nice guy. Champagne is the thing at this place. Saw 5 or so tables with it, and they just kept it coming.
One of the better wine lists I saw, but still a bit pricey. You at least weren't getting completely ripped off. Prices were extremely reasonable for food quality, especially when comparing other restaurants in PR.
Had a Lump crab stew for starters. Excellent! Ton of crab and big for an appetizer. For Dinner had Plaintain crusted Dorado with black beans and rice underneath. By far, the tastiest black beans and rice I ever had. Wife had some tenderloin medallions with veggies, and I actually think it was a Hollandaise, not Bernaise. Again, it was good stuff.
Service was good as well. Waiter was very nice and I love how Puerto Rican's don't hover over you while you eat. The States always rush service.
if you are in Ponce, or close by, love good food, please eat here.
Great, when Mark is around.

Used to go with some regularity, it serve a great Rack of Lamb and the some of the best desserts i've tasted. This place, his cusine and service is pretty good, but is very expensive. Mark is a great Chef, one of the best in all Puerto Rico, but lately is hardly around, the reason why, in my opinion the quality of all services have gonne down. I haven't gon back after my last experience.
