We found this restaurant on a random excursion in Venice and liked it so much that we ate there twice!
Fortunately we never waited for a table, but we might have just gotten there early. My boyfriend had the spaghetti and meatballs the first night and i had the spaghetti with marinara, zucchini and eggplant. Both of us enjoyed our meals, and my boyfriend especially liked the greens and the dressing that were in/on the salad.
The second night we both had the mushroom risotto, and he had the meatballs on the side. My risotto seemed just a bit hard initially, but i had some of his and it was cooked very well. It might have cooked down a bit since it was covered in parmesan which kept the entire dish steamy.
Overall i would definitely search out this place again if i was in Venice. Somehow the restaurant manages to do a great business without feeling like a touristy spot. It's a charming, intimate, reasonably priced restaurant with well-cooked food.
Maybe we hit a bad night

We were really excited about trying out this restaurant recommended to us by a family member.
First of all, the restaurant is really cute. It has 5 tables and the service is very fast.
There are about 8 entrees to choose from. Most are priced at 13E which I guess is fairly reasonable in Venice. Water and pop was 3.50E each.
The entree includes a salad. The dressing had a mustard taste to it and the lettuce was quite bitter. None of us liked the salad.
My husband and daughter ordered penne with sauce. They both felt the penne tasted like reheated stale pasta. My daughter, who is not a picky eater, barely ate her food. My son did not like his pasta either, which my husband ate and found a bit more palatable than his penne.
I was the only one who enjoyed my entree, lasagna, although I've had better homemade lasagna here at home.
While staff was polite with us, we saw them rudely kick out a table of 4 who were lingering with their coffees over a map. They rudely told them that others had reservations and they had to leave. They left quite stunned. Their table sat empty until we left at least 15 minutes later.
Fantastic little find

Fantastic little place we stumbled onto in Venice in August 2008.
Small but excellent, traditional and homemade Italian food. "Mama in the kitchen" food. No menus but mama informs you of what they have in Italian (we were trying to speak the language of the country we were in) or English. Fresh food and a bottle of house wine, I had the pasta alla casa which was delicious penne with eggplant and zucchini, un po piccante (bit spicy)?, YUM! My boyfriend had the Spag bol. which was really good. The dishes came with a nice salad each for entree and we shared a tiramisu for dessert which was so delicious!
We found it wandering past during the day and reserved a table for dinner that night by the window. Not many seats and can get full really quickly.
Definitely recommend this little find in Venice. We found Venice to be over priced for mediocre food but this place was cheap and really nice. If only we'd found it earlier.
Excellent restaurant

We ate at this restaurant last Saturday after stumbling across it while walking around Venice. We knocked on the door and made a reservation for 8:00 pm. There are no menus but they give you a good description of each meal - and you can't go wrong with what you pick! The food was amazing! The only surprise was the the two 375 mL bottles of house wine we ordered were 15 Euros each... quite a bit more than we'd paid elsewhere. The rest of our meal (including salads and dessert) was 44 Euros - very reasonable for Venice and good value since the food is all home made. Enjoy!!
Wonderful, intimate experience!

My husband and I wandered the paths of Venice last year on our honeymoon and came across this wonderful little gem. The seating was sparse and the wait was long but well worth it. We were provided with options, no menus and, when the food arrived, speaking no Italian mind you, we were pleasantly surprised by our uneducated choices! If you are looking for a cozy place to dine and don't mind a wait (you get free wine to pass the time) then I highly recommend this experience. If we are every in Venice again, this will be our first meal.
