Four of us dined at Sundae Cafe during the last week of September and were pleasantly surprised by the small but charming Bistro. We were thinking it was a Deli(for some reason). Imagine our surprise to find white tablecloths and a cozy atmosphere. The pan fried pecan crusted chicken was great as were the mashed potatoes and the fresh succotash. The portions were generous, so no room left for dessert. The grouper sandwich was also quite tasty, according to my husband. We felt the prices were excellent considering the quantity and quality of the food. I would definitely eat there again and cannot really say that for the other places we tried on Tybee. Do not be put off by the location. If you pass it by, you will have missed a great meal.

If you go to Tybee Island, Sundae cafe is a must. Hometown favorite, daily specials, fresh, excellent variety, you can't go wrong with Sundae Cafe.
Great food, great service. No need to go to Savannah for great food.

Just like all the other reviews have stated, on the outside, it looks like nothing special, BUT, once you step through the door, you know you just stepped into a great place. The decor was nothing special, but the restaurant and staff were clean and professional.
The menu is varied and there should be something for everyone. I had a steak, and my wife had shrimp and they were both fantastic. Dessert was a treat as well. The size of the servings were plentiful too.
Service was great, and everyone was nice from the time we entered to when we left. We showed up without a reservation at 5:30 on a Wed (shortly after they opened) and got a seat, but by the time we left (6:45ish, we took our time) there was maybe one table left open. So I can see where reservations later on in the night would be recommended.
Best food, best priced meal - totally wonderful!!!

This restaurant was recommended by Tim, the bike rental guy, and it was the best food AND the best prices on the island. Don't be dismayed by the location - in a gas station strip center. My blackened grouper tacos were awesome and my husband's burger was really good. Service was attentive and the wait time for the food was not fast, but not the slowest on the island, either. This is not a tourist trap - many locals are known by first name and eat at the bar. This is a true find that is worth every penny!
Texas Travelers were wowed by this Extremely tasty strip mall meal

All of our party from ages 6 to 65 plus were satisfied by the menu, atmosphere, and service of this hidden gem in a strip mall. Outside looks are deceiving, but once you walk through the doors, you are pleasantly surprised. The crabcakes were great as well as steaks and stuffed shrimp. Children's menu accommodates the picky eater. Dessert is also a must try. We will definitely come back!!!
