Traveler ReviewsGood things come to those who wait

I went on blind faith in my fellow Trip Advisor contributors when I booked this restauant. I was banking on the fact that Cane e Gatto sat at number 6. Well the first 5 must be amazing.
Be prepared to check your hurried, north american pace at the door. This is a set menu that takes all evening. My wife and I arrived at 8:00 and left at 11:30.
It was one of those places that has the very civilized practice of pouring you Prosecco when you first sit down. The wait seemed a bit long at first as a few other tables were arriving but who cares, they kept pouring Prosecco. once we realized all tables would have the same meal served at the same time, we just settled in for an enjoyable night.
the chef brought orchids to all the ladies. Nice touch.
Antipasto platter of Tuscan delights was followed by a delicate ravioli and an onion and green pea soup which was fabulous.
Main course was beef and chicken, each accompanied by a separate tuscan sauce. beef was fabulous, chicken was just okay.
Dessert was was a sampling to two separate tuscan desserts. You had the choice of having a flight of wines with the courses which included a tuscan chardonnay to start with the soup, a Brunello with the ravioli and a Super-Tuscan with the main, Vin Santo accompanied the dessert. There were only about 7 tables in the place, only 5 groups that night (10 people).
The pace was slow, but once we relized we often have dinner parties where we sit down at 7:30 or so and leave the table about 11, we knew the pace of the meal was simply enhancing the experience.
Dinner for two, and one wine flight for me, came to 150 euros or so. Worth every penny.
