Wonderful scenery

I went walking up this mountain with my friend and we took about 2 hours to reach the top of the mountain. We were walking slowly and taking some breaks on the way just to have some rest and took some photos. The view on the way was so beautiful and I felt fresh from the woods. I really love the walk way as there are so many trees which start to change the color of their leaf. The view on the top was so wonderful. We were relaxing there for a while then we walked down. It's one thing that you shouldn't miss to do in Bergen!!

If you want to see some awesome views of Bergen harbor, you have to ride the funicular (we'd called it an incline train in the U.S.) to the top of Mount Floyen. From Mount Floyen, you can see all over Bergen harbor and Bergen itself. The views are awesome. This is definitely one thing worth doing in Bergen.

Pleasant mountain hike

Mount Floyen is best accessed from the lower station a few short blocks from historic Bryggen by the docks. From here a funicular regularly runs to the top of the mountain. For the best view on the funicular sit at the bottom or lower end. Windows are everywhere meaning you will have an uninterrupted view as you ascend. The view on the trip up expands gently to give you a nice panorama over Bergen. At the half way point the track splits in two and the second train passes by; they counter balance each other. At the top is a wide viewpoint overlooking the city to the mountains beyond. There was a lot of morning cloud when we visited so the view was less spectacular. There is also a souvenir shop and restaurant up here (caution the toilets charge for a pee and eats your money). There is a large troll who greets you at the head of the walking tracks. There are a number of colour coded trails. You can access a colour map from the Bergen Tourist website but the friendly guys at the lower funicular station have a bigger map. The paths meander through pleasant forest surroundings and passed some small lakes. Keep your eye out for resident squirrels. The trail climbs steeply in some sections but there is a good panoramic view along the way. We did a combination of the blue, the black, red and orange walks. The winter ski runs are not as well formed in summer compared to the other paths. All in all a beautiful setting for a walk.

At first I didn't know the existance of this cable car,when I joined 1hour guided tour from the port,the tour dropped to middle of Floyen and I could see the station.After that I immidiately went to the cable car station and went up to the top of Floyen.Viwe from that place was excellent and I prefer much the city of beautiful bergen!

Not as Good as Mount Ulriken

Went up the funicular, view over the harbour was good, but we also went up Mount Ulriken in the cable cars - the latter was a much more exciting experience - the mountain was much higher and we found ourselves up to knee deep in snow in March!! The view over the fjords was breathtaking! Give the funicular a miss & head to Ulriken!
