This is definitely one of the don't miss things to see in Paris. The outside of the building is awesome, standing out at a large intersection so one can see the entire front easily.
Inside the staircases and ceilings and artwork are just amazing to see. Even if you can't see the main theatre (when a rehearsal is being held) it would still be worth visiting just to see the rest of the building.
The hall with the chandeliers is brings to mind the hall of mirrors at versailles, and this one is just as beautiful, although perhaps smaller.
Awesome

IS this an opera house???
I sincerely doubt.... Yes there is an auditorium, undoubtly. Nonetheless, the grandeur of the place makes one believe that s/he is in a palace, rather than a theatre.
Everything inside is made to surprise .... from the main staircase, to the affrescos, to the hall which resembles the hall of mirror.
Highlight of Paris

As a Phantom of the Opera fanatic, I was obligated to check out the Palais Ganier, and am I glad I did!
The Opera House is absolutely breathtaking and magnificent. Unless you're already quite familiar with the place, I recommend taking the tour to hear and see all the little nuances that Garnier added to the Opera House. Plus, you get to sit right underneath the beautiful chandelier in the auditorium!
Opera breathtaking!

SO beautiful and gorgeous. Absolutely breathtaking. We went the first time and it said the theatre was closed due to rehearsal s we left nd came back the second day. Same sign but it was our last day so we went anyway. There were doors open on teh second floor so you could see the hall. Totally worth it. VERY beautiful.
Great even if not a Phantom fan.

Unbelievable. For fans of Phantom the staircase and chandelier will give you chills. For those who don?t know the connection it?s still a spectacle. Almost 150 years old and still functioning and glamorous . Exploring the various rooms and parlors surrounding the main theatre may be more impressive. There is a cutaway model of the whole opera that shows it true grandeur. The theatre is relatively small maybe a 1/4 of the building. I think the stage may be bigger than the whole theatre. Makes any Broadway theater or even the Met in NYC look like dinky community theater buildings.
