Kingston sits on Lake Ontario, three hours from Toronto. Popular for its markets (both flea and farmers) and its striking architecture (the city did a brief stint as the country?s capital), it is a great base for exploring the Thousand Islands, the St. Lawrence River and its national park. Visit the largest of the Thousand Islands, Wolfe Island, on the free ferry, and cycle between its many farms. Go antiquing in adjacent villages and catch festivals at harborfront Confederation Park.
