I didn't even get to eat!

Jungle Love is not a hop, skip or a jump away from the center of Puerto Viejo. It's a long drive in the dark on a bad road. Well worth it if you hit them on a good night. When I arrived there this time the owner finally came out of the kitchen and basically told me he didn't want to serve me. It was more like, "Gee, we already have 10 tables and we're really busy. And, gosh, If you really want to eat, it's going to take a while. A long while." But the look on his face and tone of voice was clearly saying, "I don't want your business. I'm too tired." I suppose one can get away with that with tourists on occasion. But I don't think it's a good idea to do that to someone who sends you a lot of business. (I live in the area and used to refer many people here.) What happened to the days when someone would say, "Welcome back! Gosh, we're slammed, but let me get you a drink and make you comfortable. We'll be with you just as soon as we can."

The Jungle Love Cafe is the best restaurant in the Puerto Viejo area. The owners Yamu and Poppy have created an inviting atmosphere, offer friendly service and serve amazing food. Their dishes are cooked with fresh and healthy ingredients. My husband had the seafood pasta in a white wine cream sauce which was to die for. I fell in love with the asian style tuna steak...yum!! Make sure to save room for dessert. You don't want to miss out on the cocoanut ice cream or the almond chocolate mousse. This restaurant will surely be the highlight of your dining experiences in this region.

My wife and I had our wedding dinner there. Jungle Love had the best food around and the best service. If you are even close to Puerto Viejo then you have to go see this restaurant. Not only is this a cool place but Yamu and Poppy and so helpful. They are really GREAT People!!! Thanks for the Best Wedding Dinner Ever!!

This is a MUST visit!!! Yamu and Poppy are the nicest, most helpful people that we encountered during our two week stay in Costa Rica! And, they have great food too! My husband and I, plus thirteen of our family members and friends, stayed in the Punta Uva / Puerto Viejo area in June of 2008 for our wedding. I inquired on the community website about a place to have my wedding reception and the owners from Jungle Love contacted me. We communicated via email before the trip about the menu, alcohol, seating arrangements, decorations, and about the town in general. The owners were so helpful, and their restaurant was very clean and had a real laid-back, relaxed ambiance. We ate there twice during the week that we spent on the Caribbean side. Once for the reception dinner and then the following night for pizza, which was really good! Yamu gave us a tour of the house they just finished building on their property, we decided that's where we'll stay next time we visit! (vrbo.com #177942) The night of our reception dinner, which we had the whole restaurant to ourselves, started with Poppy's fresh baked bread and an awesome salad. We had also arranged to have strawberry and pineapple daiquiris and beer at no cost to our guests, it worked out great and the drinks were perfect. There were three choices for the main course - Seabass with fresh mango salsa or passion fruit-chili reduction sauce. Baked rosemary / honey / garlic chicken. And, smoked beef tenderloin with a blackberry / ginger sauce. All if the meals had fresh vegetables. Some meals came with mashed potatoes and others with roasted potatoes. We brought our cake, made at Bread & Chocolate (three layer chocolate cake with chocolate gnash...YUM!), to our dinner at Jungle Love. They took it upon themselves to drizzle the plates with chocolate syrup and even added the fresh strawberries! They also had a stereo and ipod hookup, so we were able to hear our favorite songs all night. Our wedding reception dinner was perfect thanks to Yamu & Poppy!!

We love Jungle Love. As much as the food the owner is wonderful. My husband really loves the pizza. we have to go several times every time we are in Costa Rica.
