Truly awesome breakfast

Simply wonderful place, I was happily surprised to find such a great breakfast joint in Puerto Viejo. I had a pretty good included breakfast at my hotel, but after I found Bread and Chocolate I did not visit my hotel buffet again.

We stayed at a hotel near Bread & Chocolate. Fortunately, the hotel we stayed in did not include breakfast so we walked to Bread & Chocolate one morning, and returned every day we were there. I was most surprised by the quality food they serve. Good, thick whole wheat pancakes. Tasty omelettes. Best spiced potatoes. Grainy, rich breads. How I wish there was a place that offered breakfast this good near me in the US. I went to IHOP when I returned, and deppresion set in. Quickly! Aside from the food, the atmosphere there was very relaxing. I did not have lunch there, but I can just imagine what these creative people do with lunch. A must while in PV!

I have been traveling all over Costa Rica for 3 months and this is definitely the best restaurant I have found. Everything on the menu looks amazing and the foods that my friends and I have tried did not disappoint. All of the food is very fresh and I believe the bread is made on site. I believe that they only serve breakfast and lunch and it would not be unthinkable to go there for both meals and go every day you are in Puerto Viejo! Highly recommended.
