It is a really incredible tomb, the emperor is just leading the soldiers as he did when he was alive.
Definitely worth a see if your already in Xian

We planned our trip to Xian specifically to see the warriors, it's worth a see, as it is one of the wonders of the world, and does leave you thinking 'Wow'. My one tip is - take a driving licence and show them at the student discount booth, no matter your age, as long as they see photo id, they give you 50% discount!
Don't miss!

I did take the public bus. It was easy, cheap, and comfortable.
The only thing different that I would add from previous bus comments is that there is no ticket booth from which to purchase tickets. I wasted 15 minutes walking around the train station looking for a bus ticket booth.
You simply get on the 306 bus and a employee will collect the 7 rmb from you after you sit down.
I thought the highlights were Pit 1, the surround-movie, and the Exhibition Hall. My jaw dropped when I walked into Pit 1 and saw the enormity of the site.
After touring the entire facility, I went back to Pit 1 for another look. It was that good.
I did pay 40 rmb for the audio tour. I thought it was a waste of money. The narrator had a heavy accent and was difficult to understand.
Quite an archaeological find

This is quite an attraction to see if you're ever in Xian. They were discovered by a farmer in the mid 1970s who was drilling for water. Now he is in the museum signing books. There are over 8,000 of these warrious plus chariots and horses in 3 separate pits. They stand about 6 feet tall and are over 2,000 years old. The first emperor of China had them made to help him rule another empire in the afterlife. Included in the admission ticket is a film in a circular theater explaining the history of these warriors. This is quite an attraction to see and one should make the trip to Xian if he is ever in China.
A must see and as advertised.

There is much hype thus a tendency to be a tad disappointed. However, it is worth the travel time to get there. I took the 25 hour train from Guangzhou to Xian. To get to the site take bus 306 from the bus station at the train station. When I was there tickets were being sold for that bus from a stand in front of the buildings across from the station. The bus ride also provides a view of life outside city center. I usually don?t but this time did ? hired an official guide. The cost was reasonable and provided more info than I would have gotten from a guide book and easier than the recordings available for rental - just right actually without information overload. The guide was insistent that I visit other shops which was disagreeable. The Museum gift shop is the only place to shop with quality items. If you are there on the ?right? day the fellow who discovered the first evidence may be there. You will have to buy a book to get his autograph.
