Unexpectedly good Indian-Carribean fusion
Reviewed by A TripAdvisor Member on Aug 19, 2008

Top notch stuff, a really good experience. The carribean-indian fusion really worked; traditional indian mehods and flavours were used to make the most of fresh Antiguan produce and some Creole flavours. The menu made a fascinating read, and thankfully our excellent, friendly host was on hand to offer some recommendations. I went for a mahi-mahi spinach curry, which was delicate and delicous, and unlike many fish curries it contained good sized chunks of frsh beautifully cooked fish. In stark contrast my dad had an unusual indian take on liver, mash and onions, which i clearly had to taste and it was very good. The rice was very pleasant and the side dish of okra was tasty. The starters we had were pleasant, but none really burst with the flavour that one may have hoped for upon reading the menu; my scallops were nicely cooked but somewhat tentatively, rather than delicately spiced. The deserts were great, especially the rum 'n' rasin ice cream, though my pineapple fritter was also good. Overall it was a very pleasant evening in a stunning setting with a relaxed, casual, sophisticated ambience. One of the more expensive meals we had in Antigua, but only 'Le Bistro' in Hodges Bay could better it in terms of food.

Best Indian Food Since Goa
Reviewed by A TripAdvisor Member on Jul 27, 2008

We have been lucky enough to visit India a number of times over the years and have always enjoyed the fantastic food that is available. Sadly once you have tried the real thing, other Indian restaurants around the globe (even ridiculously expensive ones in the heart of London) leave you feeling disappointed - Not so if you visit The Saffron in Jolly Harbour . The food is totally authentic, absolutely delicious and fairly priced. The service is friendly, informal and efficient and the views out over the harbour (if you choose to sit out on the terrace rather than inside in the air-con) are stunning. There is nothing negative you can say about the place and Dorothy & Keith make great hosts. Gary & Jo UK
