The typical Italian Resturant (outside Italy!)
Reviewed by A TripAdvisor Member on Aug 19, 2008

As you may expect from an Italian restaurant in a part of the island where the resorts locate themselves, this place is pleasant, romantic but rather unauthentic and unmemorable Italian food. it's also rather expensive, especially water top-ups and the like. My fish antipasti didn't really taste fresh at all (as it wasn't), and for all its fancy presentations couldn't be descibed as anything more than pleasantly average. My main course fish (snapper if i can remember) was again not really fresh tasting, and served on a soggy potato cake with a collection of empty shellfish. To their credit, upon my complaint, a whole bowl of clams and mussels was brought alongside my main course which was actually the highlight of the whole meal! However, the same cannot be said for the simply awful vegetable side dishes; re-heated, overcooked awful stuff. There was an interesting selection of deserts, and whilst the tirmasu went down very well, my dad's panna cotta was typically un-italian-italian fayre, and my filled crepe was the kind of thing a student might concoct as a hangover cure; tasty enough, but not really an accomplished desert. The wine list was good, and advice was helpful and forthcoming from the kitchen. Overall it was a bit of a rip-off, but its hard to hold a grudge at it was a pleasant enough evening as a whole, and the host was very friendly and accomodating to our needs. For a bit less money you can go to Le Bistro, which is out of La Bussola's league I'm afraid.

We ate there on four occasions during our most recent visit to Antigua. The food, ambiance & service were all first class. Here is a link for you to check it out. http://www.labussolarestaurant.net Hope this helps you decide, but can recommend.
