I agree with tuckie from New York -- this place is a tourist trap. The day we went there was a wedding party and we were told there would be no lobster for us!. We said we had a reservation, and when I gave the waitress our name, she said "You were supposed to be here Wednesday". I promptly showed her my reservation card from our hotel that showed 2 lobster lunches for Friday and that kept her quiet for a while. In general I found the waitressess and owner (Eudoxie) to be rude and arrogant. I listened to him give 4 people from So. Cal. a hard time. If he talked to me that way, I would have gotten up and left. His sarcastic sense of humor was insulting, and I half believe it was not humor. When our lobster came, it was good and the salad was fresh, but at $190 for lunch, I think your money can be spent more wisely somewhere else. There is no price list or menu anywhere and when we got our bill it just had a total, not itemized with drinks, water, food, etc. The "beach" can't hold more than 10 people and the water is too rough to snorkle. So I think they want you to sit and guzzle rum punch while you wait over an hour for your food. If you really have to go to "Georgeous Scilly Cay" as it is advertised, take the boat over, have a rum punch and take the boat back. Then go to lunch somewhere else.

You've come along way, Scilly Cay.

Under an old Seagrape tree, was a tent where two small children slept, we met Eudoxie and Sandra. We had found Scilly Cay... This was 1987. A good friend had taken us to a little dock in Island Harbour, Anguilla where we took a short boat ride to this tiny island covered with conch shells, coral and scrub trees. No electicity, no kitchen, no running water... A cooler with ice, some drinks and a BBQ grill, a nice shallow reef and small beach was their establishment. They served up the best Lobster we had ever tasted and the presentation was only to be matched by their warm hospitality... You've come along way Scilly Cay... it was then, and remains to this day, our favorite... Scilly Cay, you're simply the best!!! All the best, John & Lori Davis

Recommended by a local ex-pat. Very rustic, laid back, and just pure enjoyment. Locals and tourist come with children to play in the ocean and enjoy a day in the sun. Dinner is not over rated. Three main entrees, lobster (should order ahead if you want), crayfish (large) and chicken. Great Rum punches. Recommeded for anyone who enjoys something a little bit different. Lesley & Stephen

Lots of fun, good food, great hosts!

We were planning a day trip to Anguilla from Puerto RIco. We were originally planning to do the typical expensive lunch at one of the expensive hotels, but after some research, the airport traffic controller suggested we do the Scilly Cay experience, and he was right. What a great afternoon with my wife and my two daughters!!! Great food in a great relaxed setting with outstanding service. It is very rustic, so you must understand were you are going. We arrived early so we had the chance to take a swim in a little beach they have while waiting for our lobsters and sipping the quite powerful rum punches. The bar is fully stocked, including vintage champagnes and many other fancy liquors. After eating we stayed a while to enjoy the live music and dancing. Recommended.

Tourist trap from hell

Scilly Cay is a blight. The cay itself is little more than a cluster of rocks with a ridiculously small beach in a harbor full of fishing boats, which make the cleanliness of the water somewhat suspect. The snorkeling is abysmal and the location is far from idyllic. Plastic tables and chairs (those horrible white ones you see in front of every trailer-home in America) take up every available flat surface on the cay to accommodate the absurd over-booking of guests. No surprise, your food will take an hour to arrive. When it finally arrives the food itself was adequate and the portions were quite large. A word of caution on feeding your children: there is no child?s menu and the staff suggested that a child could eat an adult portion which is just ridiculous. So our two children each ate maybe a fifth of their $70 lobster lunches. Not the end of the world but the turnoff was the sense that the staff seemed more intent on squeezing every dollar out of guests than ensuring people were enjoying themselves. The day we were at Scilly Cay there were 200 people booked for lunch. This is way too many people for that little rock. And the people were loud! Look, I?m from New York and when I go on vacation the last thing I want to see or even worse hear, is other New Yorkers. On an island with an abundance of pristine beaches and genuine food-shacks why on earth would anyone go to this tourist trap for mediocre food, poor hospitality, underwhelming views and loud crowds?
