Traveler ReviewsExcellent Evening At Barrel Stay

We ate there early July 08, mains were Crayfish & Salad, and Prime Fillet of Beef. Both extremley well cooked and presented.Barrel Stay had a really romantic atmosphere on a night. We did pass by in the day, but were not that impressed during the day, the area around it being a little scruffy IMHO. With out doubt it's an evening restaurant, although it does open for lunch 3 times a week Sat, Sun & Mon. Definitley worth a visit.
Continental cuisine served in casual tropical ambiance.

Barrel Stay is located in Sandy Ground on the beach (literally), it will be on your left at the first speed bump. Disregard the scruffy appearance of the parking lot, the dining room is lovely, cozy and relaxed. You do feel genuinely welcomed by Jill she is the perfect hostess. Graham has a great menu in print but when Jill tells the daily specials you can not resist, she could rent a blind man a car. We had Crab & Corn Chowder that was outstanding, Wahoo cooked perfectly, a delicious pork entree and for dessert apple tarte tatin and dark chocolate tart that both presentation was equal to taste. Graham and Jill make a fine dining experiance comfortable and relaxing like your are guest in their home, not patrons in their buisness. Barrel Stay is the only restaurant we ate at twice and we will definitely return on our next trip.

Loved the Barrel Stay! On an island of great cusine, Barrel Stay was a top note! Everything was wonderful - I had the stuffed peppers, which was not only beautiful, but incredibly delicious. Don't miss this place -
Great restaurant to try!

We were in Anguilla In February, I'm just getting to reviewing now.
We received a gift certificate to Barrel Stay from the owners of the villa where we stayed. We waited until towards the end of the week to go... which was a bad move...since it was such a great find!
We had gone to Scilly Cay for the barbeque... my in-laws RAVED about how incredibly wonderful the langostine and lobster were there.... we found it to be a total rip-off... though, we met some fun people and the teensy tiny island was fun for our 6 year old. I guess it was the rum punch that made it more tolerable.
Anyhow, we headed to Barrel Stay toward the end of the week and found the food really wonderful. The owners were incredibly nice and child friendly. I ordered the langostine there just to find out what it was SUPPOSED to taste like...... YUMMMMMM!!! We had a number of other things, which i don't remember, but, it was soooo good, we went back the following night, which was the last night on the island, so we figured we might as well have a great dinner before heading home... and, we weren't disappointed.... too good!!
We HIGHLY recommend this place.... bon appetite
Oh, and prices were about $100US per meal, not including alcohol. You can check out the website www.barrelstay.com to find out more about the menu.
